Portable Fire Extinguisher, Dry Chemical Powder (Cartridge type), is type of Fire Extinguisher in which Powder is forced out by means  of Gas Cartridge fitted in the extinguisher cap, and is suitable for  fighting Class “B”, “C”and Electric Fires. Use of these extinguishers have been increased due to the banning of CTC type fire extinguisher as these also acts as a substitute for the same in certain risks.

Extinguisher described here is not expected to deal with a Large Fires as well as are very essential First Aids Fire Fighting  Appliances. Nevertheless they are very essential if used promptly and effectively in early stage of FIRE.

PRINCIPAL
The extinguisher will be of upright type.The method of expulsion is by holding extinguisher and piercing the gas cartridges by applying pressure and thereby discharging Dry Chemical Powder outside.

CONSTRUCTION
It is a cylindrical type duly welded and fitted with cap and gas cartridge alongwith discharge nozzle/discharge hose, duly painted Fire Red. Strictly Conforming  to IS:2171 -1989.

OPERATION
Hold extinguisher upright, remove safety clip. Strike knob, and direct
at the base of the  Fire.

Applications
CLASS “B” FIRES: Fire involving flammable liquid or liquifiable solids
or the like where a  blanketing effect is essential.

CLASS “C” FIRES: Fire involving flammable gases under pressure including liquefied gases, where it is necessary to inhibit the burning gas at fast rate with an inert gas, powder or vaporising liquid for extinguishment.   

ELECTRIC FIRES
When  energised electrical equipment’s  is involved  in a fire, non-conductivity of the extinguishing media is of utmost importance only extinguishers expelling dry powder, carbondioxide or vaporising  liquids  should be used.

LOCATION
Good for Laboratories, Test Houses, Workshops, Kitchens, Canteens, Generator Rooms, Petrol Pumps, Chemical Plants, etc.

PERFORMANCE
The Extinguisher designed is capable for 85% Discharge at a temperature of 27 + 2 C in still weather condition. The charges expel in form of continuos discharge and fulfil the requirements given below:
